X-Statik and X-Voce at RMAF
« on: 16 Oct 2007, 06:01 pm »
Did anybody go into this room? How did they sound? How does the X-Voce sound off axis? How do the three front speakers integrate? If you've heard GR-Research's OB-5, how similar/disimilar do they and the X-Statik sound? And, probably more importantly, are they worth the cost difference? Thanks in advance.

Check out the AV123 thread here

There was quite a bit of discussion about the X-HT room.

For the GR Research info/comparison, others here would have to help you.

I know ;), but it doesn't bother me. You can still state it's strengths and weaknesses... especially compared to the upcoming X-series speakers.

Well...

I like the x-statik quite a bit.  It is quite open and transparent.  Very smooth, great off axis response... You can really 'get into' listening to them... I think because they are so open... the sound certainly does not sound like it is coming from the speaker.  The bass is very tight but not hugely plentiful so I will use a sub with them.  The Voce is more of the same as it is built to nearly the same configuration.  The Voce has a little less bass than the Statik's but it is not too big a deal since you will be using a sub anyway for HT.

We have been working very hard at producing products that lead their class.  Sure it sounds like more marketing hyperboyle however take a listen and tell me I'm wrong :)  Maybe you don't like the particular sound, fair enough but tell me it isn't a quaily speaker.  All the coverage from the RMAF has been very positive.  I have read a couple comments about the speakers being a little bright/harsh at the show.  I do think the 2 channel room's integrated amp was not the best match for the speakers but they were also brand new... we actually finished building them in the hotel's hallway the day before the show :)

Thanks,

Sean
