The Vifa XT18WH09 7" woofer is done for, the voice coil has jumped out of the gap and now rubs badly.

Unfortunately, it appears that this Vifa model is discontinued.

Any suggestion for a rational replacement woofer or a good reconing service?

Frank, they aren't local to you (or even close), but they have been around for a long time, and do good work.  http://speakerlab.com/speakerRepair.html  I had them recone my Dahlquist DCM-7s many years ago now as the Magnat woofer cones gave up due to age. Also had them do my '73 vintage Advent Utilities. Can't say what would be considered reasonable price-wise, but they did seem so at the time, and both pairs of speakers are still going strong.

Here's another I just became aware of recently. A friend had his vintage KLHs reworked. No personal experience, but they/he seems to have the credentials & history.  http://www.theloudspeakerstore.com/aboutus1.htm
