Those headphones are likely going to be the equivalent of when someone says about a girl, "well she has a great personality!"

EDIT: My lady friend just said they remind her of a pair of testicles.  :duh:

I get one HE400 at this black friday after reading the good review from David Mahler.
Just for this new models are more transparent, dont mean they are better or have better sound quality as it usually comes at the expense of low sensitivity.

What I want of a phones are giant soundstage and euphonics harmonics as the R10.

In the past month I have see on the HeadDirect site a new model avaliable for sale, but now it dont more appear on the site.
It was a HE400J or L that was intend for a Light Weight model, it had less magnet bars and was more expensive that the regular HE400.
It also had less W/SPLs.

Hi FULLRANGMAN and all Audio Circle members.
You cannot always wait all the time for the next improved model.
otherwise, you will never own something.
Just after you have purchased something, the manufacturer will always come up will something better,
improved and sometime cheaper in price.
Look like that's their way to stay in business.
Congratulation on your purchase.
If I did not buy the HE400 its because it needs aa amplifier with more current than voltage, am I right?
I hope you get soon an amplifier to match your headphones.

Thanks Guy, your wise comments always surprise me.
Some audio equips are so good they are classics and later are famous vintage stuff.
The yet in production HD600/650 are one example, you made a right purchase.

I think planars need more tension/voltage than current, the cone/dinamics drivers eat more current to move the cones.

Hi FULLRANGEMAN and all Audio Circle members.
If you are right (Which I think you are) about current vs voltage,
this evening I will go to bed less ignorant.
Some items are excellent since their their creation
and don't need improvement, then they become classics.
That's what I like about life, you learn something every day.
Have you decided yet what make/model of headohone amplifier you will buy?

Even with the new price(Gulp!) I would prefer the Decware CSP3.
But I will no buy any amp til Iam sure the headphones solution can surpass a floor standing speakers.
So I will made allot of auditions to determine it.

There are great fullranges drivers for under $200/each as Omega 7Alnico, so a HD800/K812 headphones had to be very best than a regular speaker for $1500.

Did a shootout with Audeze LCD2 and prefer LCD2 over HE500.

I assume the "i" model stands for improved?
Still, the HE400 is a killer headphone. Guys who bought this model shouldn't regret it.
