Hi Jim, hadn't really looked into the 1801-TL's much.  This is the "going rate" as if I ordered myself correct?

Yes, it is.  This is the rate for a standard veneer.  You would have your choice of curly maple, curly cherry (as in this example), curly walnut, oak or straight mahogany.  For premium veneers, you simply pay for the upgraded veneer.

This is essentially the same speaker as the HT1-TL, but with the Hiquphon OW1 rather than a ribbon tweeter.

Once and a while, we do build speakers that have not been ordered.  This pair was built for testing purposes and now that those tests are finished, they are available to anyone who wants cherry and doesn't care to wait for a custom pair.

Very nice looking speakers. I am new to the forum and have plans to get the songtowers. I currently have Klipsch and need a serious upgrade. If these were the songtower I would be placing my order today. I will be checking daily for updates. Thanks. Scott

We have a pair of HT1-TL's available in the exact same finish as well.  This pair of HT1-TL's utilizes the same Seas Excel W18's as in the 1801-TL's, but substitutes LCY true ribbon tweeters for the OW1 dome tweeters.  Other than that, they look almost exactly the same.

Jim,

What are the differences between Songbirds and 1801-TL's?

Jim,

What are the differences between Songbirds and 1801-TL's?

The 1801-TL's are more like the Veracity HT1-TL's than the SongBirds.  The 1801-TL's are exactly the same as the HT1-TL's except they use the Hiquphon OW1 dome tweeter rather than the RAAL ribbon tweeter.  Both use the 7" magnesium cone Seas Excel W18.  The SongBird uses a single 5" ER15 paper cone driver.  The 1801-TL cabinet is also larger than the SongBird cabinet.
