dvd music vs cd's

Okay not a fair match, more like dvd-a vs cd's. Here's the deal, when I was looking & dreaming at Fidler Hi-Fi (local high end store), the salesman & I were talking about some of the dvd music videos. He was telling me that you never know what it may sound like. So I ask him if he bought any cd's lately, and his response was that he didn't plan on buying any, and would buy all of the dvd music video's he could. I countered with the fact that he was limited to only home use. What is the consensus on this?

I guess he must only listen to pop music.  There isn't an awful lot of classical on DVD, at least not that I've ever found.  Certainly you couldn't build a collection of DVDs that would encompass the basic repoirtory.

Naturally, good luck playing them in the car, tho there are car DVD decks, I guess.

The sound quality of DVD-V certainly isn't up there with CD, either.  Nor would you be able to find all the stuff you'd want, unless again you are only into new pop music.
