I'll chime in here even though I wasn't at the show. Following a warm invitation my wife and I arranged a trip to the PNW to visit Lou and hear his new creations. We got the full Daedalus experience--staying in his charming "Hobbit House" Airbnb and visiting the shop to learn more about what goes into his gorgeous designs. Some takeaways:

While I've be a client and friend of Lou's for many years and met him in person at CAF two years ago, it was great to spend time with he and Ali. They are such gracious hosts with a real passion for life and people. I left feeling so grateful to be a member of the Daedalus family.

Lou's shop is a must if you are a Daedalus owner or aspire to be one. I've seen pictures but was unprepared for all that was revealed on our tour. Also, if you have seen pictures of his testing/listening area you might be surprised by the great sound he gets within the confines of what is essentially a manufacturing facility. We did some back and forth tests with the DiDs and different speakers and changes in the sound quality and presentation were easily heard. If you are thinking of buying a pair, go and hear for yourself!

The DiDs work! Lou has been telling me this since he developed them but he did a demonstration using them under his DAC and the sound quality improved noticeably with the DiDs supporting the unit. The difference wasn't subtle and was entirely unexpected.

The new ten inch driver is ridiculous! I have always felt that Lou's speakers do bass correctly. My DA-1.1's go deep, stay tight and are always tuneful. But the ten inch driver is magical. We went back and forth between the Poseidon's and the new Apollo 11's. Both sounded exceptional across the board but the bass response of the Apollo 11 is the best I've heard ever, period, anywhere. What you get with the new models is complete coherence--the bass is deep, fast, quick but you do not hear it (and your ear does not attempt to hear it) as distinct from the rest of the presentation. It just flows perfectly, seamlessly--extraordinary!!

That's all I've got for now. I'll be down at CAF to hear the Apollo 11's again--can't wait. The new models in the Apollo line are speakers for real people and real rooms that make it sound like you have real music playing in your home. If you can't get to CAF to hear them, then fly out to Ferndale and spend some time with Lou and his creations. There is no better way to truly understand how he creates the magic.

Mark, it was a real pleasure having you and your wife visit! I hope that happens more often.
btw you just missed the salmon running by a couple of days. They are early and are now swimming up the creek next to the Hobbit House window, probably would have kept you awake.  Today I surprised an otter in the creek trying to catch a salmon that was twice his size  :D
see you in DC!
