"The Noise Pop Festival is San Francisco’s favorite indie music, arts and film festival. Now in its 23rd year, Noise Pop has brought early exposure to many emerging artists in the Bay Area and beyond, many of whom have gone on to widespread acclaim."

There are so many shows over the month, but just able to catch this one so far... Cathedrals, The Tropics, Crashing Hotels at The Independent, SF. Great starts for all three bands. Cathedrals was the draw for me - able to get up to the front for this small venue ....

The Blues Hall of Fame Tour featuring Charlie Musselwhite, James Cotton and John Hammond. There was so much blues history on the stage at the same time it was mind boggling. Although getting on in years James Cotton played flawlessly and obviously had a good time playing with his two close friends. Musselwhite's band was tight, unobtrusively providing the rhythm and back beat for the main performers but able to cut loose with screaming guitar blues when called for.

these twins are captivating!
they perform with such heart and joy.

the only disappointment at this performance is that they did not have more music to perform! they just released their first album last month.

ibeyi, at the independent, san francisco

A great lineup on a sunny Sunday at the Greek Theatre: Perfume Genius, Real Estate, and Belle and Sebastian. Image below includes some local Belle and Sebastian mega fans on stage. Lots of fun. A great way to start off the spring outdoor music season!

A fun garage rock show at High Dive featuring MOONBEARD and Diarrhea Planet right in Gainesville, FL. The venue is awesome and the shows are cheap. I really liked both bands, they are both very fun and highly entertaining. Dick Dale will be there Wednesday, April 15th and the tickets are $30, not bad.  :thumb:

Nightwish (with Delain) at Buffalo's Town Ballroom.  Floor Jansen was remarkable.  Like she was destined for this role.  So fortunate they decided to come here...you don't see bands of this caliber in such a small venue.  Nightwish truly deserves their world ranking in their metal genre.

Helene Grimaud recital at the Chenery sponsored by the Gilmore Series in Kalamazoo.

Notice they changed Steinways for the second half - a much livelier soundboard in the second one for the type of music she was playing.

FOREIGNER at the Route 66 Casino Albuquerque. ...Fantastic Blast from the Past.
The Name and the Music seems to have transcended the original musicians.
The Band has continued on thru many changes but has remained commited to proper quality and chemistry of personnel.
Very evident last night to a sold out Rocking Crowd.
The lead singer has been on the tour >10yrs and the drummer just started.
What a drummer and what a jamming solo prior to Juke Box Hero.
90% of the songs were standing audience.

My wife Dodie is the resident Rock expert and she gave the Performance Flying Colors.
She has seen them live 3 times in the 70's and early 80's with original personnel.

I've got a phone pic..don't know how to link it.

Saw Madeleine Peyroux last night at the Kent Stage (Kent State Univ campus).   Wasn't sure what kind of band she'd bring, and when she showed up with a minimalist stage I was slightly concerned.  No problem!!!!  WOW!  What a beautiful night of music.  She sat in a chair and played acoustic guitar, ukelele and sang a few numbers standing up sans instrument.  Her accompanists were incredible: a tall young man playing an amazing standup acoustic bass, and an even more amazing young man sitting down playing a Fender Telecaster.  The tones and subtle shadings he got out of that guitar were just magical.  The three of them played for a couple hours and it was a most enjoyable and musical night.  Nice!!

She is just starting this tour and I would recommend finding her at a nice small intimate hall nearby.

Built to Spill at the Bunkhouse Saloon, Las Vegas 4-20-15.  Terrible phone pictures, but a great show in a small dive bar.
