Servo-amp placement
« on: 17 Apr 2016, 09:36 pm »

Danny, you said somewhere that servo amps should be close to the subs or there would be problems with servo delay. Is 10 feet too far? What should be the max? Thanks.

Typically we use no more wire than is on the plate amp from the factory. And the longer the wiring the less the control.

An idea.

Increasing the wire size will lower losses from the amp to the drivers.  If the length of the servo wires match to each driver and the amp wire length, the servo loop should be better at controlling the driver motion.

I am having good luck with 14awg stranded for both the servo and amp wiring.  My lengths are around 10' to the 7' sub arrays.
