Is there anything gained by using the XLR outputs on a stock Sony HAP Z1ES and the XLR inputs on the Modwright LS100?  I don't think either is a truly balanced design (more of a convenience?) but I wanted to check before upgrading any interconnects

While I'm asking, is there any advantage to using the XLR outputs on the MW LS100 to connect with my power amp, which is a Rogue Stereo 100?  I believe the Rogue is also not truly balanced in design.

Thanks!

An XLR balanced interconnect system is one thing and a completely balanced internal circuit is another. A balanced interconnect system is always a good thing, especially with long interconnects. While a balanced internal circuit is a design decision.

Thanks, Speedskater.  I don't run long interconnects between my components, so are the sonic differences of using XLRs negligible?

For short lengths (say 10 or 15 feet) with both components power from the same AC outlet, the differences are negligible.
