People have been speculating of its introduction about 3/4 ago...it has not happened.  I predict Apple could careless about the Mini fanbase.

Its just a rumor on 'Mac Rumors' but they speculate that Apple is not going to support the Mini any longer and their plan to let it die, or (phase it out) in the not to distant future.
Hence we see no love or attention given to the Mini since its last update back in 2014.
Sad I know but it seems that Apple is more enamored with the IPhone line (read mega profits) then any of the basic items that kept them together in the very beginning.

Years ago there was much interest (and several companies) modding the Mini hardware/software to optimize it as a server, but nowadays a purpose built server should be better for less money. 

Stopped by an Apple store recently to kill time and the nice gal walked me around, neglecting to mention the Mini.  Seems that it's sole purpose is to support their 27 inch screens.
