From the beginning :)

All of my first projects or designs were tagged "Kraemer Designs". I've always enjoyed audio and being a CNC machinist i saw a way to express my love for audio.

The TT~1 table started from a Project Audio RPM5.1SE, It spun records well but i wanted to try making a new platter for it. So my mind went wild :)

As you can see i incorporated pockets for lead shot. It was obvious at this point to redo the whole table  :thumb:

Next post coming soon……

Next it was time to design a new plinth design for the now "TT~1", i had a lot of lead shot left over, so i made a plinth with a very large pocket for the remaining lead shot and why not make a cool power and speed controller.

My next post will have finished pictures and what the table looked like before it was sold.

I didn't like how the very bottom plinth looked and to lose even more weight i got rid of the power/speed controller for a simple on/off switch.

It was eventually sold to Dan Laufman, the owner of Emotiva Audio Corp for $4,000.

Best,
Matt

Hi  Matt and all Audio Circle members.
You are good, my God you are good.
But, that's your trade, that's your job.
I must say that you are good at your job.
Your turntable look like a million dollars.
What about the main bearing, did you up grade it,
because the platter is now so much heavier.

Guy 13

One more thing.
You post tons of pictures and that's good.
A picture is worth a thousand words
and in your, look more like a zillion words.

The bearing on the stock RPM5.1SE was very well made and has held up to 1,000's of records (just saw the TT~1 last year and she's still looking pretty). If i remember correctly the stock platter weighed around a pound or so and the new one was 6-7lbs, an increase yes but the bearing didn't mind.

Best,
Matt

Thanks Ryan!

Working 50 hours week at my normal job, living in a one bedroom apartment where is assembled the turntable  and not knowing anything about turntable design, it took me 2 months from start to finish  8)

Hi all.
I agree 100% with Rocket.
Think about it.
One more made in USA turntable
should be good for the hi-end audio market.

Are you in or near Nashville?  How did Dan find out about it?  I feel like I saw it in his office at Emofest.....  Either way, amazing work!

EDIT:  I just looked at your site and answered my questions.  Nice job on the Emo faceplates too.  You  have a gift for design.

Matt-
That is a really cool looking turntable... but how did it sound? What did you think of it compared to other TT's you have owned?

Thanks Nut!!

The sound had great weight and emotion, not sterile like on other tables i have heard. To compare it to the RPM5.1SE the parts came from, it was a tremendous leap in vinyl performance.

I brought it down to Needle Doctor and played it on some really fancy tube amps, speakers and fire hose sized cables lol, they loved it!

Not too long ago, i almost pulled the trigger on a few SME arms from a distributor but thought it would be cool to make a production table with our own tonearm.

Best,
Matt
