I'm having a problem connecting a wireless Edimax USB to a Raspberry Pi 2. I've tried with Rune and Volumio.

I have the Edimax too. The OS in Volumio and Rune has the drivers built in. I'll take a stab in the dark and suggest the following steps with Rune (since for me it was more reliable with WiFi than Volumio):

1. With the Pi powered off, plug in the Edimax.
2. Power up the Pi and let it boot RuneAudio.
3. When it's started up, open the web interface for Rune and go to the Network settings.
4. Type in the name of you WiFi network. Choose the type of security (probably WPA). Type in the password, and Apply Settings.
5. Give it a bit of time to save the settings.
6. Rune should me connected by WiFi now. Unplug the ethernet cable and test it out.

Maybe you were doing these things, in which case I don't know why your Edimax isn't working and mine has been ok. I haven't bothered to check when the light blinks.

Is your network type supported by the Edimax? Mine does g and n, not ac.

Thank you for your suggestions. I did that initially but I'll do it again. Did you mean that the wifi was working correctly but the Edimax light was not on?

You were spot on. No lights but wireless works perfectly. Sound is excellent. Thanks so much for the help

avta - good to see you got it to work!  :thumb:

JohnR - will definitely let you know how it goes, but I'm only sloooowly working it due to lack of time. I'm only following the great examples Richard Taylor and Charlie Laub have posted in other forums and blogs. To see the art of the possible, check out this blog post detailing that the ecasound with ladspa plugins can replace Linkwitz's complex cross-over for the LX521.

Here's the how-to if you have an ubuntu machine: http://rtaylor.sites.tru.ca/2013/06/25/digital-crossovereq-with-open-source-software-howto/
The same approach works on the Raspberry PI with the only caveat that the USB buss on the PI is a bottleneck for really hi-rez files.
