This is the first time I've seen a movie that deals with the subject of a teen struggling to come out. It's worth watching, but the execution could have been better. I don't know if it was the writing or the direction but something about it was lacking... Still the film kind of succeeds on its own terms. Vinyl lovers will be happy to see a few close ups of a turntable spinning big black discs. This one is NOT for homophobes, white supremacists or evangelicals. Jennifer Garner did an excellent job with the material she had to work with. On one hand I'd be surprised if this wins an Oscar, and yet on the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if it does. It was this kind of film.

If you saw it, what's your take?
