Monster Garage speaker stands
« on: 10 Jan 2018, 08:21 pm »
I made these from mild steel for some Dynaudio Focus 160 monitors I sold, looked to buy some stands and  what they cost is funny.I can weld and have access  to steel so here are some 53 lb each adjustable stands. Top plate is 5/16 thick 8x11 3/16,Bottom is 10x14 and 3/4 thick. Downtube is 7/16 thick.adjustable spike are 3" long 1" dia bolts and nuts, turned bolts to points on lathe so centered. All tig welded.T here is no clear on metal, raw steel as I dig the patina
Not typical shiny audiofool stuff but very cool in right decor.
Also have 8 herbies fat square dots for top plate between speakers and stands if wanted for extra$
Zip is 48371 half hr north of Detroit

This is a local sale unless YOU want to ship but kills value
$100 stands & i will drive a bit to meet
$40 herbies fat sq dots (8pcs)

Thanks
Craig

Almost certainly far better quality than anything costing less than $500.   GLWS.

Thanks  :D
I guess I just dont ask enuff for people to take it seriously I know the cost of materials and time i spent on them, sometimes I think I have the wrong hobby/addiction :P
Most "audiophiles' take themselvs WAY too seriouslly, almost entitled and jaded.
These are nice ugly stands Geves ,pass the grey poop on

These speaker stands are awesome! If I lived anywhere near you, I'd grab them without hesitation.

Beautiful work. I like the patina too.
3/4" base makes me giggle. How'd you even cut that???

How tall are they?  I know this might sound laughable considering the already hefty weight, but did you drill out one of the plates to fill the posts?

24" tall, contemplated drilling and filling with lead shot but picking them up now sucks   I would imagine there would be a deading or ringing cancelation if filled with shot, the middle tube is hollow

About 50 miles but since you are coming from the north you will be passing right through Nashville and Murfreesboro which are easy meeting points

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to chime in.

I live in San Diego, but was I born in Detroit. I love the grit of these. I have family there, with birthdays coming up.

Are they still available?
