And the Grim Reaper's list continues to grow.

Thaks for the head's up, I hadn't heard about it.

I was literally crestfallen to see that he passed. :(  Holdsworth was truly a genius.  Back when I was a kid in HS I read an interview with Eddie Van Halen; when asked what the greatest guitar album of all time was he replied "IOU" by Allan Holdsworth.  To this day that's one of my favorite albums.  His technical chops were unsurpassed but his musical instincts were even sharper.  It was amazing how he effortless straddled genres with his guitar wizardry.  RIP, Mr. Holdsworth- you will be greatly missed.

I knew him from his early work with Nucleus, Softs, and Tony Williams, not so much his later work. My brother has an interesting 2cd retrospective compilation, Against the Clock, which would be a fine introduction.

His fans chipped in for the funeral expenses. Allan had a lot of fans.

The term "genius' is often used, but seldom deserved IMHO.
Mr. Holdsworth could wear that description.
A very rare talent, a huge loss.
I've been a fan for years, and mourn his passing.
