All are worth owning.  IMO she was the best cellist of the last century, with Rostropovich and Fournier being my other 2 favorites.

Great box set, it made me remember a late friend that loved her music.
At the peak of her career in 1971 she began to lose her fingers sensitivity, being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1973, when she also performed the last concert, she died slowly passing away in 1987 at age 42.
Great Argentinian cellist.

There is a movie about her and Daniel Barenboim. The story goes that he started another relationship when he was music director of a French orchestra while she was fighting the disease alone in London.

My advice: don't start with the Elgar Cello Concerto. You'll be too emotionally drained to go any further.

According my late friend who was a Drupre fan she had a deviance that led to the Daniel absence.
A sad story for this they hang it to movie.

I have her Beethoven Cello Sonatas: they're my favorite. And her Elgar Concerto, also excellent.

This set is an unbelievable deal: I'm ordering it also. Thanks Danny!

Despite the French name, she was about as English as one could be, bad teeth and all.  You are confused with her husband Barenboim (who treated her like crap once her illness set in).  He was Argentine.

The book, written by her sister, came first and is authoritative where the movie is not, as such movies usually end up being. Du Pre was a great artist, but also a spoiled brat.

There is also some controversy about the accuracy of the sister's book, disputed by none other than the sister's daughter.

Truly, it's a dysfunctional family.
