Selah Audio custom Scanspeak design
« on: 14 Mar 2017, 02:22 am »
This custom design uses dual ScanSpeak Iluminator woofers, Seas mids and SB acoustics tweeters and a custom crossover design by Rick Craig of Selah. They are a biamp-able design, so you can use SS on the base and tubes on the mids+tweeters, or a single amp with jumpers (which is what I have done). Parts alone are more than asking price.

Sonics:
They sound awesome! Very clean, extended, dry bass. 92dB sensitivity.

Cosmetics:
No smoking, kids or pets in or house. Grills in as-new condition.  Face is flawless.  Three small, short (4mm) scratches on the top of one speaker. Some scratches on the bottom, which you obviously won't see. Color in photos is accurate.

Purchase:
Encourage local pickup in Chicago - I'll even deliver them to you in the region. Willing to ship as well, but buyer assumes all responsibility. Ask is less than cost of parts, so no haggling.

Reduced  to $1700.

I came across a Trading Post ad you placed in 2015 which appeared to be the same speakers, but those supposedly had (unknown model) Seas mids and Usher 9550 tweeters.

Were the mids, tweeters and crossovers replaced since then?

Look like the same drivers. Rick would know of course but the mid does looks like a Seas U16RCY/P and the tweeter an SB Acoustics SB26ADC-C000.

I tried to check myself what the drivers are today as opposed to what I've been told - the tweeter is an is an SB Acoustics 25ac.  The mid must be cemented in there because it wouldn't come out and dangling my cell phone in there to try to get a pic only showed a cast frame.  Closeup shows it to be the Seas U16RCY, as John suggested.
