Has anyone heard the new Cayin A300b-Mk2?
« on: 28 Apr 2016, 11:39 pm »
The new Cayin A300b-Mk2 is a beauty using 300B tubes pumping out 8 glorious watts! I know where they sell it, in fact I'm planning a trip to go listen to it. But just want to know: has anyone heard it yet?

Nice amp, what is the weight and price?
Well price is $1475, weight is 26kg.
IN A-300B MK2 VACUUM TUBE AMPLIFIER
This improved model single ended class A integrated amplifier is equipped with a sophisticated rectifying stage using a pair of Russia made Sovtek 5AR4 (GZ34) rectifier tubes. The selected dome shape mesh plate 300B tubes discover the most delicate nuances of sound. The remote control operates all functions of the A-300B MK2: even the feedback level can be varied in two steps. On the top of the amplifier panel there is an elegant back lighted bias meter and it is very convenient to readjust the bias level of the power valves quickly without opening the cover. Hum balance adjustment can also be done in this simple way to achieve a dead silence background.
FEATURES:
New improved sonic circuitry on the A-300B
New added high precision VU meter on the top plate
Bias adjustment and Hum balance easily done outside
Japan Takman carbonic film high end for audio resistors
New protection circuitry for ac and audio transformers
Power off memory function
Automobile grade paint finish on top chassis
Can be used as integrated amplifier or power amplifier
2 x 6SN7 + 2 x 6SL7 for pre-amplifier stage
Russia made Sovtek 5AR4 (GZ34) x 2 as rectifier tubes
High end dome shape mesh plate 300B x 2 for power output
Special handmade low magnetic leakage toroidal power transformer
Special handmade wide frequency response Ei audio transformers
High end Nichicon, Realcap capacitors and audio choke coil
Silver plated high purity copper internal signal wiring
High quality Japan ALPS motorized volume control
Negative feedback control (selectable via remote control unit)
All point to point wiring (hand soldering)
Fully remote controllable
3 pairs RCA input + 1 pair RCA pre-amplifier input
4ohm / 8ohm / 16ohm selectable output load impedance
Removable metallic tube protection cage included
Detachable power cord system (IEC)
TECHNICAL:

Looks nice but how does it sound? I'm considering another 8 watt SET for the same money made in Canada.

It's the latest version of the Coincident Dynamo. See/click on the embedded link in my previous post (the bold part).

Here's a link to the manufactures website... http://www.coincidentspeaker.com/whatsnew.html

I'm not sure about the price because I live in China - pretty close to the place where the factory is - and the prices here are substantially lower. I already own a Cayin (Mt45 Mk2 - push pull using KT88) and it was half of the price they cost outside China.
Regarding the Coincident Dynamo, I guess it's a very good amp but it's not my cup of tea; one imput only and that volume knob close to the valves... No, not for me.

The Dynamo would be pretty expensive to ship overseas. It would be nice to have a 2nd input and I agree that the volume control is not ideally situated; however for me, sound quality takes precedence over every other consideration.

I agree with you both, the sound quality is the most important characteristic. But in case they sound identically good and if the Dynamo is not clearly superior, the Cayin suits me better.
Anyway, all the conversation is lacking experience :) We still need to go audition  these beauties and take some conclusions.

Don't think they can sound identical without identical tubes and identical design. All that matters is that you are happy with your choice. I don't have the luxury of listening before I buy, but at least I have a 60 trial period so that if I decide it isn't for me I can return it.
