As you say, lots of choices available. As far as complete sets of symphonies go, I really like Mariss Jansons and Ricardo Muti. The set, though incomplete, that I wouldn't want to live without is Mravinsky's set of the last three symphonies. They are as close to being definitive versions as I could imagine.

You mention an SACD player in your system profile. If that's still the case I notice that Pentatone has a Pletnev/Russian National Orchestra SACD cycle that is well reviewed. I've not heard that one but I like Pletnev's earlier Tchaikovsky. I might have to get that set myself (although I really don't need another set of Tchaikovsky symphonies )

Thanks Photon!  Looks like that SACD box isn't being released until next month.  I am patient.
