Yo Tyson,
Bummer that we'll miss you.  Headed down I-25 with a buddy as I type mobile.  We'll take your hit list, add TAD & GR and see how much stamina we've got.  We wanna hear a good OB speaker setup, if you or someone has a good room suggestion for that.  And we'll look for Pez, so long as he keeps the hat on (I'll be the guy in Carhartts with a giant Nikon).  Armed with your RMAF2013 track.

Sometime I'll have to tell you how I faffed the LPS with the Zuma.  Are you still a free man or are you a slave to work?

Later, RalphE

Sorry to hear you are under the weather Tyson.  :(  Hope you are back to the sunny side soon. Thanks for the extended effort to provide yesterday's coverage. Pez, hopefully you'll be able to relax today, and just enjoy the sights, sounds, and folks you meet.  :thumb:

JH13s are still king imho. I heard the Roxannes and honestly thought they were terrible. They are adjustable and the vendor changed some stuff on them but they just never had the balance of the 13s.

HOTTDAM,

RalphE runnin' pedal-to-the-metal, lights and sirens to the rescue.  :thumb:

Tyson,  I hope you get better fast and can enjoy the last day of the show just for yourself.  Don't worry about coverage, just hang and have fun.  Besides, how can you tell us what a system sounds like when your head is full of snot?

Westone- I like the W40s and W50s. They have great balance and tonality. The W60s are poorly balanced imo. It's not just that they're bassy its a balance issue. I think the way to go is probably the 40s.

Hope Tyson feels batter quickly!

Pez, enjoy yourself and do whatever you think is best. If you get a few photos in, fantastic, if not, there will be a ton from other sources in the not too distant future.

If you get a chance to list an overall impression of the sound of a room and Vendor, that is far more important to me. I would rather get an unbiased opinion on these rooms than ones where I know there are some potential conflicts to be considered.

Take care!

Great iFi setup! iUsb, iDac, iCan on HE 560 hifiman. Im really blown away by this setup. Truly a showstopper.

I feel the need to elaborate. The beauty of this setup are really potent bass and natural balance. The cans are incredibly comfortable beyond what other cans I've tried are.  I was listening to Carole King an album I've heard hundreds of times and this setup gave me that 'I've never heard this before' feeling instantaneously. I'm sulking a bit right now because I want to listen again but someone else has taken over.  :duh:

Check!  In room 427 now.  For a second it looked like we went to the wrong hotel, because we saw a girl in the hallway.  But whoa, there's speakers here too.

Do you enjoy listening to music, but hate that you might make eye contact with other humans? Wanting to combine your love of hifi with your love for building a pillow fort? Well perhaps you should consider buying a tigerfox sound system!

This setup sounded bizarre. It kind of throws sound to sound like it's coming from everywhere. In the sweet spot it's almost fish bowl like. You seem to be swimming in the sound field. If you move just a touch to the left right or rear it changes the location of instruments in weird ways. Interesting to say the least.

Looks like something that candidates for future missions to Mars would enjoy.
(going back to that whole "introverted basement troll" comment)

Fellow basement trolls, no photo for this post but I gotta say the Daedalus room is always always great. I'm really enjoying just relaxing here listening to Paul Simon.

Ok VS fans here are my honest opinions.

I can't help but feel there is a certain brittle crispness to the timbre and balance of these speakers. Almost a supernatural twang to strings that is not to my taste. The system isn't balanced hot per say, it just has a lot of treble energy to it that for me throws the balance out of whack. Bass is pretty impactful and throaty. Imaging and soundstage are decent and certainly up there with some of the other setups I've heard but nothing outstanding. there isn't much warmth or boogie factor here for me. Any way overall there's a certain 'newness' to the sound that I think is appealing to a lot of people. That sort of more real than real sound quality.
