I think you're going to find in the end that your cooling vents were a bit overkill.. These aren't that kind of amp  :green: But whatever the design looks great.

They we're never meant to be cooling fins, It's just part of the design.

I could just slap this thing together and call it a day but it would just look plain like 99% of the amps out there

If it doesn't look good, I don't want anything to do with it  8)

I'm not buying any audio at the moment but part of me wants to hit you up this summer and see if you can't do something for my LDR chassis. It's a sleeper, but it sure deserves to look a bit nicer.

The connectors and amp kits are coming next week.

Signal ground or safety earth?

Both. After looking at the data sheet and a few sets of user pics, I think i have it.

IEC inlet ground to chassis, nAmpon to chassis, Audio signal shielding and ground to chassis.

Right?

You must like working for free.

Makes one wonder about other class "D" amps costing in the $12,000 and above range using Hypex OEM modules.

I am charging $500 a case. 5 have been claimed. I do not want to turn this into a huge run but will consider making a few more sets.

They will take 4 hours to make a piece.

Absolutely beautiful! Wish I was in the market for amps...

The outside design of the case is 100% appearance and not to help with anything but i would think it would help vent or act as a heatsink.

Oh boy did i get a couple of surprises when i got home :)

Got all the goodies from PartsExpress.

Also got a package from Hypex. Shipped Friday and got it today!!! Pretty fast i would say. Shipping wasn't bad either, like $38. No import taxes, which was nice.

Laid it out on a 8x11 piece of paper. Not far off from my 8x12 case. Fits nice :)

Re drew the model.

The front logo has changed. Which i like it better now.

Got rid of the thru holes and made them blind holes (not thru).

Drew some feet and added counterbores to secure the bottom plate and feet.

Made a recess on the back for all the connectors.

I'm liking the design. Just a little more to draw.

Tomorrow i will start cutting the bottom cover. After that will be the feet. I want to do these first to get them out of the way. Finally i'll make the cases.

I have some solid hook-up wire from BulkWire coming to me. Black, red and green colored.

Today i made the covers, bottom covers that is and they ran great.

I used numerous tools but these are 2 of them. 1/4" and 3/16" endmills. Not mill bits, routers or metal cutters, endmills!!! People get that wrong all the time but hey i am a machinist.

Here is my program with all the tool path lines shown.

Before i started i used a orbital sander and gave one side a nice consistent finish.

To make these parts, i used a fixture plate to secure them down.

Used kant twist clamps first. Drilled and counterbored holes for 6-32 SHCS's then removed the clamps and the rest of the program ran.

High pressure coolant to help maximize tool life and to flush chips.

All done.

While it was being machined it changed from .260" to .250".

Picture of my machines control panel.

Extra shots.

Cut some black delrin to make some feet tomorrow. I will make 3 feet to a strip.

I hope it's not too many pictures.....

Some of my build threads can be in the 100's of pictures....

And we haven't even touched the cases yet

Excellent work.  I look forward to following your progress.   These are great sounding amps.  I'm sure you will be happy.  I'm still enjoying my Ncore amp.

I am excited to wire up a pair but still have a bunch of things to make but it'll be a fun journey :)

Today i requested a vector file of the "N-Core" logo from Hypex. It will be machined into the back where the connectors go. It'll look bad ass :)

maybe you should add a small led on front to know when is on or off.

Matt,

Those cases are fantastic! By the time you're finished, I think those may be the best looking amps I've ever seen. Positively unique. :thumb:

The LEDs on the AMP module will shine thru the bottom of the case.

It's easy to tell if an amp is on...... If there is no sound, it's off
