Wow. What a difference.

I am running the optical out from my Mac Mini to my VDA-2, and the difference between the regular output and the external DAC is incredible!  Amp and speakers is the HCT Tube amp and speaker package.  Most people here know it as the Fatman Audio I-Tube Amp and speaker package.  The HCT (actually made in Korea) is sold on base for $250 so I couldn't pass it up...

Sadly, No.  I am at FT Campbell awaiting deployment to Iraq.  I picked up the DAC becuase it is actually quite portable.  For those of us with Mac Laptops or Mac Minis, the optical audio out is an easy path for upgrade.  With my projected living accommodations, I will have the best sound in Iraq, bar none!

And I must add, the Fatman ITube/HCT Tube amp is no slouch, either.  Highly recommended for office use.

Ha - you're brining the Mini and VDA-2 to Iraq?  At least you'll have good tunes. 

I wish you the best over there - my cousin's husband is a medic over there, so I know how dangerous it can be.
