Water Quality

For the past few weeks both the wife and I have been gimping around with aching kidneys.  What the heck is that all about?
Our city water will actually eat away at a turtle's shell so Lynda purchased a Brita Water Pitcher from Wally World and that is what the problem was - it was the water.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Potable water has 4 basic chemical qualities:
pH
RedOx
Tension
Electrical conductivity

Potable water usually have pH=9 to 9.5
That black sodas pH=2.5

Contact the city water filtration authorities.  They are mandated to provide safe water.  They may know what the issue actually is, although not all water quality parameters have prescribed limits.  Regardless they should be informed of any such complaints.

(We live 20 miles from Flint Michigan and thankfully are on well water.)

About where do you live? Are neighbors having similar problems? Do you have well or city supplied water? How long has this been  going on? Etc.

Glad both you and wife are feeling better but city water should not dissolve turtle shells.  For that to rapidly occur it would need to be highly acidic or alkaline.  Not impossible you both had a self resolving infection.  Go with asking neighbors and a call to city water supplier.  You might find this info on potable water filters of interest. http://thesoftlanding.com/why-filtering-your-tap-water-is-important-and-which-filters-really-work/
