Here are some pics of the Diluceo's in progress. The baffle is 1.25" MDF and the rest is 1" MDF except for the brace which is .75" MDF. Do people design anything beefier than this???

Can't wait to hear them!

I wouldn't want to be hit on the head with one of those!  We've been expecting the first GR Criterions or Diluceos from Darren and here they are. What veneer will they have?

I am thinking about ordering a pair of Criterions myself.

These will have curly maple veneer. Should be a nice look for them.

Lookin' good. Can't wait to see that veneer!

"-Do people design anything beefier than this???"

I'm thinkin' Danny's design for the Alpha's might be called 'beefier' though.

1.5" all the way around, plus .75" inner brace plate and dowel crossbraces.

But then the Diluceo's being much smaller might make those thinner cabinets even more rigid than the Alpha design, plus not having the bass output might make them the wiiner in the end as far as 'dead' and 'beefy'?

Guess probably only Danny knows 'eh?

Don't forget to look for your cat before you seal those up!

The last speakers I built I got really silly on.  All Panels 2.25" thick with a fair amount of bracing as well.  I had to make large chamfers behind the drivers to reduce the tunnels behind them.  They are floorstanders and weigh 188 lbs each.  Stoopid amount of overkill which, after having to move them many times, I will never do again.  They are fairly "dead" though.

Gives a whole new meaning to sound deadening material!  I can see it now.  Audiophile trend started with putting dead cats in speakers to sonically tune cabinets.

My Paradox 3's were built with 1" MDF sides, a 2" MDF baffle, 2" bracing, completely Black Holed, and covered with extra-thick black laminate. Total weight of EACH speaker is 115 lbs
