Audio Note Kits "Kit 1" single ended triode (SET), 300 B integrated tube amplifier. I lovingly built this amp by hand two years ago. Additionally, the internal build aesthetics have subsequently been prettied up by Pete "Digital Pete" Fulton, the artist-with-a-soldering-gun who does the custom, professional builds when people buy a prebuilt unit from Audio Note Kits.
I adore this amp and thought I would never, ever part with it. But, having discovered that my Spatial M3 Turbo S open baffle speakers are much happier with a high current, solid-state amp, and because I can't afford to have more than one amp hanging around, I have to find a good home for this beautiful piece.
One of the cool things about an amp like this is that you can love it as is, or, if you have some soldering skills, you can upgrade it to your heart's content. For example, you can upgrade the coupling capacitors with Audio Note Copper Foil capacitors. Or, Brian Smith at Audio Note Kits will happily sell you Audio Note's fanciest “C-core” output transformers for the ultimate in sonic bliss. The possibilities are endless.
This unit has the extra cost input selector option installed, giving the user a total of three, line-level inputs. Additionally, the stock, inexpensive Russian and Chinese tubes have all been upgraded as noted, below.
The output transformer connections to the speaker terminals can be wired for either 4 ohm or 8 ohm speakers. Right now the amp is wired for a 4 ohm speaker, but it's a fifteen minute soldering job to rewire the amp for an 8 ohm speaker load, and I will gladly do this prior to shipping if the purchaser desires.
