I've decided I'm probably gonna get a Fender Super Champ X2 head had use dead Epiphone Valve Std as just as speaker cab. I want a low watt tube amp, and this gets universal acclaim.

However, I decided to look at kits or total DIY, as I can read a schematic and solder, however this looks like a more expensive option rather than cost saving. I could snag a used Fender for $200 or so from the 'bay.

But any input appreciated.

I do have a delay, OD and compressor pedals. Would like tremolo, and volume pedal down road, maybe a wah.

Oh, I want a nice clean sound and a bit of dirty OD crunch. Not into heavy gain. But I do like compressed gain for legato lead stuff.

Thought about it.  *caveat, I am not currently a 'player', I am just fiddling around*   But most likely I'd convert my self built from scrap into my amp and buy a good head.

Whoa! I was just looking into that.

Mojotone has a couple of kits but I could buy a new Fender 68 reverb for less money and less hassle.

If you can pickup a Fender Champ 25 se for a good price you may be pleased for the cost... I like mine very much. Probably wouldn't play out with it but great for practice.
I have a BD2 and a Fulltone OCD that sound great through the Champ.
