Which of these should I look for? Have a line on Forte 1 with crites tweeters then there is the new Forte 3 which I am afraid to ask what the price of those will be? Certainly not 80s prices

Take a look at ALK for Klipsch crossovers.

I have the Forte II and really like them so I am a little biased. Chorus II owners are just as passionate. You cannot go wrong with vintage Klipsch IMO. Forte III is rumored to have an MSRP of $3800.

Buy the vintage klipsch. They can easily be improved upon and made out of real wood and not MDF ( I believe)

I do not believe Klipsch are made of real wood. At least not all of them. My Forte 1 are particle board with real wood veneer.

As said earlier you cannot go wrong with vintage Klipsch If the MSRP for the III is correct I saved over $3500.00 by going vintage. :thumb:

If the Forte 1's you have a line on are in good shape and priced right I'd say go for it. Sell them later if something better comes along, I doubt you will lose much if any $$$.

It is interesting how many people that own Klipsch have held onto them for 20 - 30 years or more. Mine were purchased a couple years ago from the original owner who bought them in 1989.

Another great resource for all things Klipsch is the Audio Karma forum. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?forums/the-klipsch-korner.131/

Good Luck!

The Forté bass is more impressive due the back Passive Radioator than any other Klipsch I have heard imo.

MDF or plywood with real-wood veneer are better than solid-board enclosures,
not that I actually know anyone who ever did that.

Better is relative, real wood is better sound, MDF are better value, but also are carcinogenic for 5 years due formaldehyde fumes.

Daedalus Audio use real wood in the enclosures>
