They're back up.  Lost 1 order... but we'd shipped it already.  It's all good.  Lots of amps shipping... good stuff.  We even shipped yours John R!

Awesome, Seth, thank you! - obviously it takes longer for me but I'll keep an eye out!! It's stopped raining for now, at least :thumb:

Got them today. That's pretty quick for regular post. Haven't had a chance to plug any of them in yet. I seem to be inundated with amps

Re: Soft-start / 3A fuses are insufficient
« Reply #43 on: 11 Mar 2010, 07:58 pm »
I've received a few panic-stricken emails from folks who plugged batteries or linear supplies and "blew out" their amps.  In fact, the standard 3A fuses were blown, that's all.

On the original amps, anything above 3A would have been a "problem."  In fact, these 3A fuses sometimes survived the 4.3A that the 30v/130w could deliver.  Not a chance with the high-current supplies.

Upon reflection, we should have bought and sent 8A or 10A fuses out with the soft-starts.  You're basically on your own to find these fuses and if anyone would like to post sources here to help other customers, please do.  It wouldn't make sense for me to sell such a low-cost item because I'd need to pass along substantial order handling fees that I pay...

If you want to go crazy on fuses, a number of firms out there will sell you a single, high conductivity one for $50+.  Some reputable "ears" have told me that they actually do make a sonic difference but I'm not yet at the point where I will sell such a tiny thing for that kind of money.

They are rated higher.  I forget the details.  Someone please post when you get your ONE.2.  I haven't got mine yet!

Nope... I think it's all good.  Sensation is much easier to get in/out than the little guy.  The top-shelf is trivial to slide out!

Did the original TWO have a 3A fuse as well?  If so I apparently don't push mine hard enough because I've never changed a fuse and it's running the 30v/130w supply.

We put 5A or 7A fuses in most of the TWOs.  That may be enough for a while.

That makes sense.  If the switching supply can only deliver 4.3A even a 5A fuse should be sufficient then.
