Had a Scottish ale recently on a humbug.  Wow!  It was smooth and rich.  When I buy some more i'll tell you the name of it.

I really like Belhaven  Scottish ale and Wexford for an Irish cream ale.  Both are very smooth with no bitterness.

I also like Left Hand Milk Stout for its chocolate and coffee tones.

JimG - if you like Scottish brew, you might like to try my favorite wee heavy, "Skull Splitter", by Orkney. Excellent stuff  :thumb: :

Thank you, good sir. "Skull Splitter", eh?  Must give it a go.  I'll look for it.

Here in Ontario Canada we are extremely restricted in choices of beer.  Our beer store is run by the big four and only really stock what they want to sell and the LCBO carries only a select number of other premium beers.

I like a local one called Boneshaker.  Its an IPA, which is among my preferred types of beer, those and good stouts, unless I am looking for a "session" beer in which case I'll drink most any lighter pilsner.

I really wish we could get Stone Breweries.   We can get Sierra Nevada from time to time and some Rogue.  Daddy's Little Helper is one of my favorite Rogue brews.

I'll try anything, but with as many breweries as we have in NC I like to support the local economy whenever I can. Favorites include:

Foothills - Sexual Chocolate, Hoppyum, People's Porter
Mother Earth - Sisters of the Moon IPA, Dark Cloud
Lonerider - Sweet Josie Brown Ale
Duck Rabbit - Milk Stout
Green Man - Dweller Stout
Highland - Oatmeal Porter
Carolina Brewery - Copperline

Hey Jim, some good choices here in NC.
I also found Mother Earth's Deep River and Weeping Willow Wit to be really tasty.
On a sad note: I really like some of the Dark Horse but can't drink due to organic
(gives me a hell of a headache).

WW is almost too light for me. I don't know off-hand, but I want to say it's somewhere around 4% ABV? Tastes like it's on that end.

But one of these days, I need to bag work on a Friday and take a road trip to Farmville to the Duck Rabbit tasting room...

  The best beer I have ever had is Samuel Smith's Organic Lager.  The balance is to die for.  Try it!   RD

"Bump"

So....here's the story.....
A couple weeks ago I go on a four day camping/float trip with 17 guys from around the country.
They all bring beer from their native land, right....well....Most of them don't want to haul the "leftovers" back home, so they leave it with the locals.
Well, guys who the "locals" is?
Yup. Me.  8)

Gotta tell ya, there's some awesome microbrews out there.

Here's the pick of the litter from what I brought back home.

Ok, not really very far from St. Louis....The place we float as is about 90 minutes from my house.
But they have their own beer!

From Colorado;

From Houston Texas;

Louisiana;

AMAZING ale from Wisconsin.
Man....I'll tell ya what. This stuff is dangerous. If you like root beer, you could get in trouble drinking this beer;

Colorado (bottles and cans);

I have not tried this yet. Mainly because it's a 22 ounce beer, and t's a wheat beer.
I've not liked a wheat yet, so I'll wait until I've got a buddy over to share this with before I open it up.
If I don't like it, he can have the rest of mine.
(Ryan, you reading this?)

Same with this one. It's made with raspberry.
Not sure about that, but I'd like a "secondary drinker" to share this with.

My favorite brew is generally the one in front of me.
My next favorite brew is the one I have not opened yet.

I have some Widmer Bros Hefe Weiss in the fridge right now, first time I ever bought it.  Yes, it's fine, and like it.

My Fav Weiss was always Aiyinger (sp) but the store I used to get it from no longer carries it.   :cry:
