This is a thread for exhibitors to tell us what they're bringing to the Lone Star Audio Fest.  :thumb:

The Junior Audiophiles will demonstrate the winning set of speakers from this year plus top projects from years past.  They will be powered by an integrated amp project.  Gary Dodd built a prototype from a garage full of old Fisher 400 and 500 receivers, sent us the prototype and several boxes of parts.  A handful of students copied the prototype to create a Fisher Iron Dodd Design integrated.  Other projects will be powered by a Moscode 300 with a Dodd battery pre.  IC's are Electra Cables and DIY.  Source is a Marantz transport and Buffalo/Dodd battery Dac.  Just for grins, I'll try to bring my FrankenDodd amps- a pair of 1950's vintage Eicos brought back to life by Gary, but they don't sound like Eicos anymore.  :thumb:

I am also bringing a pair of the V-2's:

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=71532.0

Electronics being brought from various other companies almost to numerous to list.

I will also be bringing my Clio measuring system along. So any of you DIY guys that would like their speakers measured, no problem.

I haven't decided for sure what to bring, but it will be one of my new speaker systems.

At the moment the front-runners are the Cloud Chasers, 95-dB bipolars:

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=79325.0

Or possibly the Rhythm Prisms, 93-dB floorstanders adaptable to a wide range of room situations:

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=78557.0

Unfortunately I only have room for one pair of speakers in my car.

I'll be there again this year as a non-commecial exhibitor with a Cambridge Audio Azur 840C CD player, Krell KAV-400xi integrated amp, and Selah Audio Texas Revelator Tower 2.5-way kit speakers in DIY enclosures, all connected with Silver Circle Audio cables.

I'm voting for the Rhythm Prisms. They're perfect for the relatively small rooms at the LSAF and priced so you don't need deep pockets to buy them.  :thumb:

Thanks for voting, Fred!  Good observation that Rhythm Prisms would be a better "fit" with the rooms.

See you in a few weeks.

Fred and fellow exhibitors, got a question.  What sort of marketing and/or advertising is going on and where to attract consumers in the area?  It's a large market, I guess that goes without saying, and we should want to get info in front of as many people as possible.  I haven't seen word of this over at Audio Asylum, for example.  Must be a few subscribers over there living in the area.  One post I've seen on AC lists exhibitors.  It could be good, even better with graphics, if that kind of info was viewable by more people, the more the merrier.  And, is there any advertising going on for the general public?  I will help in any way that I can.  Don't think notifying posts should come from me, however, cause I'm a mickey mouse manufacturer.

What can you think of we could or can and should do?  We could begin sharing ideas and starting the work here and now . .

This show diffinately needs more promotion in some form or another.

It would be nice if it were promoted by the on line magazines. That would help.

Mentioning it on all of the various forums would go a long way too.

By the way, I am bringing something never before seen at a show. It is a new patent pending technology soon to be announced.

Stereophile has an industry section where they talk about audio club gatherings.  They might list LSAF if you ask.  Probably to late for this year, but should work for next year if you send it early.

Just a thought.

Uh huh-  Don't know if you know this (a copy of an email just got):

'Decided to go and booked my room tonight. Will be there night of 14 and 15. Showing off my Lighter Note preamp. Bring your preamps with you, lets have a challenge!

Uriah'

You heard the man.  I volunteer to offer my aged opinion.

Good for you, Uriah!   Plus, I posted the list of exhibitors and location, etc., on A'gon and AA, anyway, except on AA it seems struck in limbo.  Uriah, man, where did you get a name like that? Must be some significance there.  Most interesting.  Gimme your company name and web address and I'll see that you are included as an exhibitor.  Plus, I'll modify my posts elsewhere to include you.  See ya.

I'll copy Fred, too, right now cause maybe I'm not "Doin the Thing" right.  Who knows whose tune that is?

I agree about the need for increased promotion. The important thing about the LSAF is that it isn't an organized event. It's only a place and time where anybody can rent a $99 room and exhibit their audio stuff. There is no "committee" to promote the show. Just Shane who volunteered to select the hotel and get the reduced room rate, plus a handful of people who are posting about the show here on the Audio Circles.

I suggest the exhibitors start posting information on all the forums about the equipment they will be exhibiting. It's also a good idea to respond to others' posts about the fest. Here's a link to a topic I started on the PE forum four days ago that drrew only one response and is now out of sight on page three. http://techtalk.parts-express.com/showthread.php?t=217424

That's a good idea for exhibitors to start talking about it and refreshing posts.

I put the list of exhibitors and time, location, etc., on Audiogon last night and this morning there are couple of responses.  Question:  Will there be signage of some kind in the lobby?  Will there be a hostess?  Will there be a sign-in log book?  An open bar?  I'm kidding about the last one.

Here's the response I just made to the two respondants on Audiogon:  "Swanny-  See you when you get there.  You, too, Sebrof.  The exhibitors will all be located closely together in a wing of the hotel.  Just ask the front desk for directions.  Or, follow the music!  Invite a friend, too."

Sure, it's right here - http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=80230.0

I was hoping to get to "print" 1st May with a preview of LSAF, but since reality does after all rule, it's now going to be 1 June (or a few days before) for the inaugural edition with a report from attendees (hopefully)

I'd welcome any submissions or proposals for other articles as well.

Jordan Breal
Asst Editor
Texas Monthly Magazine
PO Box 1569
Austin, TX 78767

Dear Jordan,

Your ears, eyes and pen are cordially invited to The Lone Star Audio Fest in Dallas on May 14,15,16- www.lonestaraudiofest.com/

Seriously, this is something that my colleagues and I want Texans to know about.  Many audio designers and manufacturers from all over will individually discuss and demo their high fidelity creations for attendees.  I’m sure you are aware of the CES in Las Vegas each year, the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver perhaps, and The Audio Karma Fest in Michigan (just concluding).  Some exhibitors from those shows will be present, as well, and now Texans can learn and listen, and enjoy right here at home.  To see more about the exhibitors and this year’s location, just visit the site and click on Exhibitors.  Each logo that appears is an active link to their websites.

There is no admission charge to attendees and everyone is welcome.  Lots of music will be heard coming from the wing of the hotel where LSAF exhibitors will be located.  Each exhibitor will set up and entertain in their suite.  A science teacher from Abilene, Scott Clark, is bringing the student and his or her winning speaker design from a class project since the semester began.  Professor Clark is also bringing speaker performance measuring equipment.   Audio designers and manufacturers are coming from as far away as Idaho and California.  It’s free, here at home, and fun.  Especially for Texas music lovers pursuant of highest quality sound and setting in home.  Most of the designers present sell direct to consumers eliminating middle men and dealer markups.

We hope that you will consider this event for a upcoming feature in your magazine.  There is a larger audience for this than you might imagine.  The aforementioned shows draw people from outside the U.S.  Why not to our state.  Additionally, I’d wager that virtually all Texas audio and video enthusiasts at this level read Texas Monthly magazine, just like me.

Hope you can agree.  We would welcome a presence from Texas Monthly in any capacity.  Dinner at The Grape would be on us.

Thank you.  Please let me hear back from you at your convenience via return email or 281-468-3133.

Sincerely,

Jim Goulding
music lover, audiophile, and participating manufacturer

This will be my 1st LSAF.

I will be there with a home made open baffle rig.  Those of you who were at LSAF in 2008 may remember the Altec 605 coax + 18" woofer open baffle rig.
That will be in my room this year with a class-d amp on the sub and a lovely Grant Audio 300B SET on the mids, highs. (Thanks Rachel and Ian!)

Source will be a nice little Yamaha CD/DVD/DVD-A/SACD universal player.  Going toslink out to a home brew DAC.  I've burned a bunch of tracks to DVD-A format and keeping my fingers crossed that it all works.  :? Some of the tracks are 96KHz/24bit.

Please stop by and bring a few CDs.  See you there!

The main system in the AudioFred room includes a Krell KAV 400xi integrated amp, but I plan to alternate this with my Virtue One with the 30V power supply to demonstrate you don't need to spend $$$ thousands on an amplifier to have really good sound.

Naahhh....  It's still his.  But he wasn't going to bring it this year - he had to have BIGGER speakers.  So since I'm coming I said I'd put it in my room. John's got a truck full.  Should be fun.
