Title: Klaus, Are You Going To Rocky Mountain Audio Fest?
Post by: stereo5 on 10 Aug 2017, 02:10 am
I am wondering if Klaus is going to be showing at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest this year?  I plan on attending and I would LOVE to meet "the man" and his beautiful wife and family.  I need to call him as I want to purchase a new silver face plate for my amp.  I went from everything black to everything silver and the Stratos needs to go with the silver look.   If any other members are going, please post in this thread.   My wife and I will be there opening day from 12 noon until  she gets bored.  Actually, she is a real great sport and although she doesn't share my passion, she never ever complains.

Hi Phil.  As a newbie I hope this msg is not in the wrong area.  I have had Odyssey equipment for 7 years now.  Totally impressed with the sound quality and all the personal service I have had from Klaus.  Currently I have a 3 year old Kismet stereo in a Cyclops case I would like to sell. If interested I can provide details.  Thanks.

Nope..in the last 4-5 years, RMAF kind of run it's course for small direct companies...same crowd, more and more business oriented...and we're doing Axpona, LA next month,  and CAPfest in November....with us being so busy,  that's already too much...

Thats a bummer for me Klaus.  I was hoping to finally meet you.  This will be my first time there and I am quite excited about it.  Hopefully I can meet up with you sometime in the future.

Klaus,

See you Friday and Sunday at CAF.  I am out Saturday.  Let's have dinner together Friday.   I want to see in person that you are still alive and kicking.   8)  Is Alex and Irina coming?  There is a Russian place in Rockville -- Golden Samovar (https://www.facebook.com/GoldenSamovarRestaurant/).

I made a reservation at Golden Samovar.  Without Irina, do you still want Russian or something else -- Italian, Indian, Greek, Sushi, American or whatever?  I can change it.  The Hotel restaurant, Olives, isn't bad but service could be slow with all the show people.

Osso Bucco works for me. Count me in. Rim, do you know a restaurant near the hotel that serves it?

There are three Italian restaurants that show up in Rockville but not one is showing Osso Bucco on the menu.

So I made a reservation at Filomena.  I love this restaurant in DC.  Their sauces are great.  You know it's by Blues Alley in Georgetown.  Friday ends at 8 PM and I made the reservation for 4 (Marcia?) at 9.  It's a bit of a drive down Wisconsin Ave/Rockville Pike but I will do the driving.  Don't worry, I will drive you back, Klaus.

From their menu:

Quote
Osso Bucco Alla Costello

Slow Braised 16oz Veal shank “Osso Bucco Style” in Veal Stock, Tomato Sauce, Red Wine and diced Vegetables. Served over Saffron and Mushroom Risotto, then glazed with its own juices.

Sure,

You can't get Klaus and Lou talk politics though.  8)

Oh, and one more person has to drive.

Rockville Center is in Long Island; we will be in Rockville, MD.  It would take more than any kind of driving.  Maybe when Musk finishes his hyper loop....

you know,  this is nuts,  driving 1 1/2 hrs total just because Papa wants Osso Bucco.....I'm ok with Indian, or any other food as well...thanks for considering my wishes here,  but ultimately, having a nice and fun group together is much,  much more important than having a certain dish....and keeping it local to the hotel makes much more sense for people to join in...so....Rim,  your call dude.....

It's only a 30 min drive at that time.  Filomena has really good classic Italian food.  They may still have Halloween decorations up which would be a treat in itself.   Plus, you get to see Georgetown, one of DC's night out destinations, on a Friday night.  Also, Scott is using Uber.  We may just join them in a UberXL or splurge on a UberSUV and not worry about finding parking, which can be a PITA.

Here is an excerpt from Wiki:

Quote
On March 26, 1993, President Bill Clinton welcomed German Chancellor Helmut Kohl to the White House. In a conversation between the two leaders during a photo opportunity in the Oval Office, Kohl stated: “Every time I come here [U.S.], I usually arrive in the evening, so I go to the Filomena.” The Chancellor continued to say, “Perhaps when I come back, we could do it the two of us, because you seem to like that cuisine too, don’t you?” “Yes I do” President Clinton responded. “Too much.”[1] On January 31, 1994, President Clinton and Chancellor Kohl conducted a working lunch at Filomena Ristorante. They discussed developments in Russia, Central Europe, the Middle East, as well as decisions made at a recent NATO summit[2] Both leaders met again for dinner at the restaurant on June 3, 1997.[3] Helmut Kohl has been a regular visitor since the restaurant opened in 1983.[4]
