SW-12-04 vs. SW12-16FR
« on: 14 Mar 2010, 11:02 pm »
Hi,
It looks like we'll be moving to a new house in a couple of months, and I'm contemplating building a new set of speakers to use in the main living area.  I've settled on the SW12 as my bass drivers, and plan to use the servo plate amps with them.

If I could do either the 2 pairs of the OB SW12-16 in a pair of H-Frames (or W-Frames), or I could do one pair of SW12-04's, each in a sealed enclosure, what would be preferable, and why?  What are the trade-offs with each?

I plan to integrate either choice into the speakers, so it will all be part of each speaker cabinet.

What are you planning on doing for the rest of the speaker?

Probably something like the KEF Reference midrange pod and a B&W Nautilus style pod for the tweeter.
