Its with a heavy heart I report this
« on: 24 Feb 2012, 03:13 am »
Mr. Bill Thomas has passed on as of  November 2011. He has been fighting something for quite a while now. He was truly one of a kind. He will certainly be missed by all that knew him.
Rest in piece Bill

So very sad to hear. Bill was one of the genuine good guys, and one helluva fine craftsman, as well.

Rest in peace, Bill.

A true craftsman audiophile. Anyone with a bit more of a bio?

He has a story. Give me a little time, and I will see if I can come up with a bio. He was passionate with the electronics he worked on. Perfection comes to mind.

Thanks for the word Mike. Have missed his posts and wondered how he was doing since he noted the medical issues some time back. He was a fine craftsman, and always willing to answer questions or help with any information he might have. He has been, and will be missed by many here at AC.

Deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

Sad indeed.  Bill was really a craftsman, especially with Dynaco equipment.

I'm so very sorry to hear this.  I have missed his page by page descriptions of his restorations, and his loss diminishes us all here at AC.  He will be sorely missed.

You could see and read and feel the passion in his Dynaco restoration posts.  I really enjoyed his posts.  RIP.

Yes, the passion did come through, didn't it?  Bill was very giving - a rare quality these days.  My condolences to his family.  Hopefully, there's a young man out there who will come along and have the same dedication and sharing spirit to carry on Bill's tradition in some aspect of DIY audio.

One of the reasons I log in and look at the Audiocircle website every day was that Bill's contributions were so fun and informative to read. I really got a sense of the man behind the words and pictures, and respected his work ethic in all his projects. I would really like to see a bio because I liked him so much, even though I never met him.

The Vintage Circle is one of the best circles here. It would very cool if it kept going.

My condolences to Bill's friends and family and all who feel the place he had in their lives.  He was an incredibly giving source on Dynaco that never failed to help me understand what he was driving at.  We certainly have a loss here.  I hope that Mr Thomas is in a more peaceful, painfree place now, and that what he gave in life comes back to him in a good way now, and forever.

I got to know Bill years back at the Audio Asylum Dynaco board, I had no Dynaco tube gear then, he referred me to Van Alstine for help for the Pat-4. Then I determined to get some Dyna with tubes. Then Bill helped me on some wiring diagram. All These time I had no idea he was running the Vintage here until maybe a couple years ago. Like everyone else, I am impressed by his restoration work and the passion in Dyna. I always wish I had the kind of time that he had to do what he loved. RIP Bill. Life is short.

I just posted a few days ago about my Dynaco pre amp and the work Bill did to it.  I feel very fortunate to have crossed paths with him and with this piece of gear I feel that I have a special memory of him even though I never met him face to face.  I will miss him
