Wait what huh??

What happened to no room correction?

Is this processor going to have a Bryston pre-amp section?
Any more specs? HDMI 2.1?
Price point?
Will there be a front panel w/o mounting holes?

Hi

About $14,000 US retail.
I will have more specs in a brochure shortly.
Yes we will have a 17 inch and 19 inch version of the faceplate.

Hi

Yes and no - we are going to use a lot of what they have developed as far as the digital engine is concern but we are going to add our DAC's and probably our analog stages going forward.  The unit is totally modular so we can make changes as we go.

The SP3 is staying in the lineup for those that do not require all the extra features in the SP4.

The same price as a McIntosh MX160. I'll pass on this one. Too rich for my blood.  :o

Hi James,

I'm exited to hear the analog internals will be Bryston. Something with more networking abilities will be nice too.

How "upgrade-able" is the SP4? Can it withstand the next sound processing encoding systems? How will the DACs compare to the BDA-3?

All my questions aside, $14k is too rich for me too for a surround processor. I'll try to add a nice 2ch preamp for music and then later switch out for a more affordable processor for HT and use an HT bypass. I just can't afford to keep up at these prices with how fast the HT scene changes.

Hi

All the boards are modular so if new codex's come along we can switch out boards or run new software.  Our plan is to use whatever current DACs are available to us. It is pricey but it does have all the features some customers want.  The SP3 is staying in the line as well for those that do not require the feature set or the cost of the SP4.

Hi, so are you saying you will essentially be able to implement the BDA-3 DAC's in the SP4? If so will it be for all channels or just the main left/right? If only main left/right how will the other 14 (or 18 with the upgrade module) channels differ?

Thanks

It will just be stereo - the main surround DACs are part of the main circuit board from StormAudio.

Thanks for the info.

I just finished taking a look at the Storm Audio website and looking at the offerings, I see they also have a 32 channel version, will you be doing one of those variants as well?

All options are open to us but I think the 16 channel version makes the most sense given our market.

What's the native audio resolution of these? I'm not sure how to read the Storm Audio site correctly, do the specs imply 192kHz native or only just 48kHz?

192 but all movies are done typically at 48.
