Vandersteen 2CE sig II - Is my room big enough?
« on: 3 Dec 2013, 04:39 am »
I posted this over on the AA forum and wanted to ask here...

It's a dedicated audio room in my basement. Little messy sorry. 26' long x 12.5' wide x 6.75 - 7' high.

Long story short. Had the Vandies a while back, sold them locally, regretted it ever since. New house, dedicated music room. Person I sold them to indicated I could buy them back.

Room testing and acoustical panels this week. The Dyns pictured are nice but not full range like I want. The Vandies could be spaced about 7 feet apart.

Like dating an x-girlfriend :)

Certainly big enough. A classic especially when driven by a Belles Amp. get them back.

I have these speakers set up in a room slightly smaller than yours. Driving them with an integrated tube amp and they sound great.
Although I will say this, my dealer works out of his home. He set these speakers up in his basement, which is about 40% bigger than my room. He had the 2CE Sig II's almost double (farther apart) than you have your speakers and the space to the front of the speakers was deeper.

They did sound better as a result of the breathing room....

thanks to all for you replies!

When I first had the 2CEsigII I used with some Quicksilver 70s with QS Line stage (in a much larger room than shown). Liquid midrange goodness but the bass was rolled a good bit and weak. Im thinking this time to try the Rogue Hybrid Sphinx? Or maybe further down the road a separate Tube Pre (Modwright, rogue) and a separate SS power amp (McCormack, Rogue).... Best of both worlds. ....
