Pioneer SC-1222 and DSD via USB
« on: 12 May 2013, 10:20 pm »
Hi all.
New to all this DSD stuff but it sounds exciting.
Just found out that my receiver is supposed to play DSD files over the front usb input.

Placed some DSD 2.8MHz 1bit DSF files on a usb stick.
Put the stick in the usb input of the receiver and the receiver reports empty.

I'm I doing something wrong?

BTW the files play fine on AudioGate.

Thanks in advance.

I don't own one but the press release i found says DFF only (which sucks, btw, cuz DFF does not support tagging).  Try converting one of your DSF files to DFF in Audiogate and trying it.

Ted
Thanks for the reply.

I tried a dff files but still showing empty.
Contacted Pioneer and I'm waiting for a response.

Perhaps the Pio requires some sort of structure within the usb stick?

On a positive note: I burned a DSF Disc with Audiogate put it in the PS3 and it played it.
And the receiver reported DSD although it is going through HDMI.
I'm assuming it is really being converted to PCM
Amazing sound !!! Best I've heard since my vinyl days.

Next experiment is to try the old AV cables and going analogue out of the PS3.
Now where did I put those cables? uhm.... :-)
