Wyred 4 Sound joins the DSD fray
« on: 9 May 2013, 03:23 am »
Looks like W4S has an upgrade for their DAC-2 that adds DSD through the USB connection.  A $350 upgrade for existing units http://www.wyred4sound.com/webapps/p/74030/117839/908550;  Also a new upgraded version for sale http://www.wyred4sound.com/webapps/p/74030/117839/904731.  I gear the sirens song....

Dan thanks for the heads up.  We knew it was coming, just didn't know when.  Wasn't aware that DSD128 and 384k was coming too, though.

I've updated the DSD database, thanks.  EJ and company have done well here.

Don't know about anyone else here...but for what it is I've enjoyed my DAC-2.  I'd call it unforgiving but it's just a bit on the bright or metallic side for my taste.

Because of my busy season I've steered toward more headphone listening in the past 6-8 months and have spent a lot more time with the Schiit Lyr and Bifrost.  Never been interested in tubes before, but this combination has been just fine with both my HD-600 and ER-4 phones.  However, depending on what others have to say about the DAC-2se upgrade, I might consider upgrading mine.
