I own 3 entire collections:
1) The first releases was yet mastered to vinyl, and some have so bad sound I think they were not mastered from the masters tapes, as Saucerful, even Piper w/that raw sound has better stage.

2) Second batch of PF already mastered especially to CD, the Meddle album is from the Harvest label with that label in black.

3) The 3º collection was from mid 1990s fully remastered with some kind of upsampler, better sound with an audible sound envelope.

I also own some Jap SACDs as DSTM, WYWH.

I have 3 versions, dts, cd, sacd hybrid.

I actually compared the versions, not on my current audio set up but a previous one. To see how loud I could play them without distortion.

IIRC the cd version starts in somewhere around 80 decibels and distorts at approx. 98 decibels. The dts the dynamic range was a little better somewhere in the 70 decibel range and distorted around 105 decibels. The sacd hybrid dynamic range starts at about 70 decibels and I never did reach the upper limit, I got to around a 110 decibels but was scared to push it further. :smoke:

One.

I'm too cheap to re-buy the same music/movie twice.  BTW I my music is Redbook.  Too many albums out there to fixate on the same artist/album over and over.  The maximum number of albums I own by the same favorite artist is six.

  • I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.
One music copy- but i want the DSOTM watch to go with it!

Just one. It is a hybrid SACD. I also have a LP I purchased back in the 1070's. I also saw the band live twice during that decade.

I have heard a lot of DSOTM.

The best are the remaster!

* Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) (SACD, 2003 Remaster)

* Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) (Vinyl, 2016 BG Remaster)

I bought the album when it came out in '73 and the music is of course fantastic - but it's been so overplayed on the radio that it no longer holds any magic for me.

Three / seven:

1990(?) CD
2003 SACD
The DSOTM Immersion boxset (containing 6 disks of DSOTM material)

SlushPuppy

Two:

Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) regular CD and 2003 hybrid SACD.
