If you are installing Windows with Apple's Bootcamp Assistant, here's a tip: let Bootcamp Assistant decide the size of the Windows partition.
I know it sounds weird, but I have just spent hours of time and GB of "support software" downloads, and finally by just sticking to the default settings, it has installed.
