Preamp options

Hi guys,

A friend of mine is telling me he wants a stereo. And I'm willing to help.

He wants to do wireless/bluetooth, so whatever preamp combination I go with needs volume.

I've been looking at first going with a Teac UD-503 because a streamer can plug in, and it has AUX inputs for a phono preamp. For the preamp I was looking at AVA's Vista, Music Fidelity V90 LPS, Tavish Design (full kit with enclosure), or Emotiva Audio XPS-1. Another option is replacing all of it with a Parasound Halo P5.

I like the idea of using the Teac UD-503 because the DAC is superior to the P5.

But I'd consider a preamp with phono that has volume, that an Arcam airDAC could plug into instead of a DAC&streamer.

Zero gain on the output to the amplifier downstream is important, and buffered is key.

I suggest you look into AVA:

This is great, built-to-last equipment. This is a combo DAC / pre-amp that can be had with the very excellent Vision phono preamplifier section. See:

AVA offers great service, can be wired for power to meet your needs (110/220 VAC), and offers a 30 day money back guarantee.

Happy Hunting

Yes, it's on my list! But I wasn't looking at the DAC+pre+phono due to cost.
