ac 10's in subwoofer
« on: 29 Oct 2010, 09:05 pm »
Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone has every tried using a pair of ACI AC10's in a single enclosure as a powered sub and, if so, what kind of box volume you used, how they sounded, and how deep they went as far as in-room frequency response.
Thanks
Chris

Chris:

You're going to get an F3 in the mid-upper 30s in a sealed box of around 1.5 cu.ft. Q will be around .7

Thanks Mike!
Any way to drop the f3 down to the mid-high 20's?

Chris, you'd need active EQ. Remember, every octave lower requires four times the excursion capability. So you'd be hitting the stops a lot sooner . . . The AC10 was a very good woofer, but doesn't really have the excursion of a true subwoofer like the SV10.
