She would have been great but she smokes in front of the audience.

If you like Adele's voice; take a listen to Maggie Koerner http://maggiekoerner.com/home

Similar voice, maybe a little more grit.

Interesting... I like her voice and some of her songs.  She has her own Youtube channel with a bunch of homemade videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/maggiekoerner (I could not get any of the videos to work on the linked page.)  She plays the piano but if she's going to use a guitar she should learn to play it.  In all the videos I saw she only uses the low E sting.  (I hesitated to point this out because even on one string she can play better than I.)

More on Dynamic Range:

In a reply to a comment on recording quality I mentioned the loudness wars and referenced the lack of dynamic range on "Rolling in the Deep" (DR=5).  After relistening to the LP I was having a problem reconciling what I heard with the recording quality comments here.  Now I know why...

This is the dynamic range of the original CD:

HORRIBLE!!!

Here is it for the LP:

Quite good for a modern recording.

I also found this for the "ReLife Remaster":

I think I'll search out this remaster to add a digital version to my collection.

I agree; same part of the country.

If you like that vocal style; another to listen to is Lynn Drury http://lynndrury.com/home/

Very interesting... ReLife is VST plugin from Terry West Productions...  Now I need to figure out how to use it.

EDIT: I started a thread on the ReLife VST plugin in the Discless Circle.

She has a great voice.  However, I don't smoke so totally against second hand smoke.  That is if I am to watch her live.  :thumb:

I really like her too and think her 21 album is a stronger collection than 19. But I guess it depends what kind of sound you prefer because I could easily see some people liking the more intimate sound of 19.

Good news.

She quit smoking over Christmas!

That is a very good news.  @20% of smokers who quit tend to go back to smoking.  Environment surely is a factor.  Only time will tell.

Go with her "19" CD, great audio quality. "21" sucks.

19, the CD, is almost as compressed as 21: http://www.dr.loudness-war.info/details.php?id=6630

The main difference is that it is more minimalist than 21 - Adele's voice and few instruments.  19 sounds great on vinyl but I preferred 21.

Before the Grammy's I had only seen Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" music video a couple of times.  Her performance and complete domination of the Grammy's piqued my interest.  Today I received vinyl copies of both her albums, 19 and 21.  I just finished listening to both in order and I am simply in awe.  I love female vocalists and I think I have just discovered a new favorite.

The first side of 19 started rather slow and it took me a while to get into it but her voice just kept me in my seat.  The second side of 19 was great.  I was captivated from the first couple of notes of "First Love" and pinned to my seat through the last of "Hometown Glory".  I then put on 21 which starts with "Rolling in the Deep", a good song but, IMHO, nowhere near the best on the album.  This first side is strong from start to finish and I loved the "Rumour Has It" and "Turning Tables".  The second side of 21 is as strong as the first... Who knew a Cure song could sound so good?  (And I LOVE the Cure.)  Adele's version of "Lovesong" was simply amazing.  Then came "Someone Like You", my favorite song by far on the two LPs.  I had goosebumps and tears in my eyes listening to that cut.

Her voice is simply amazing.  I am really looking forward to future releases from this young woman.  Incredible.

One and only is my favourite!
