hi-res dac chipset

hi-res dac chipset

anyone know any thing about this dac chipset? Texas Instruments PCM1796 24 bit/192 kHz. how it sounds. how it compares to other chipsets?

Well you could do a survey of units using these parts.

There are reviews of this box around on the web.
It is an older part that was released around 2006 I think.
TI updated it with the 1795 which is a 32 bit part 192KHz
that is pin compatible with 1796.
The chips support DSD but actual box implementation may
not.
You looking for a plug and play DAC or wanting to build with
this part?

OK basically the same thing I posted. Same company builds both.
Likely both use the same DAC circuitry.
Their DAC didn't review that badly.
I don't know what the warranty situation it though because these
folks no longer distribute this equipment.
I think the rep is in Canda now.
Was looking at the DAC pretty seriously until I found out I
had to spend some bucks to get the performance I really wanted.
Both the YBA SACD Player and standalone DAC are older designs,
which I'm sure is the reason they are now cheaper.
