Any recommendations for CDs?  I realized have nothing by him.

I would suggest " more of the best of L. Cohen" many of the songs on this album are after his voice deepened and take on a whole new meaning plus the producers really did their homework producing the  digital recording, proving CD's work fine if some one works them fine.

Also "I'm your Man" tribute Film/album with some really wonderful and classy interpretations which can also be bought on DVD.

However painful that, that Era is passing fast and we are moving towards a motherless "Steam Punk" show, how wonderful it is that just when one thinks all the world has become morons and self promoting egotist, all these folks show up and show the world is filled with many great minds and even greater poetic hearts, no small few of which are right here at this forum.

The Commander is gone, but he left one heck of a beautiful army.

I'm Your Man is a great album - "Everybody Knows" is one of my favorite songs of his:

What I've heard of "You Want It Darker" is amazing, too, especially when you know the context.

Thanks for that link to Austin City Limits, Grace Ruby. A deeply satisfying concert in all ways.
I posted the times of the various song starts in the comments.

I sent the link to my son studying music production and recording in Berlin at the moment. He is a little young to have been very aware of Leonard Cohen, but I think will appreciate him if he listens to a few songs, since he has an appreciation for poetry and good use of the language.

One of the greats for sure.

Yes, and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes
I thought it was there for good so I never tried

This line from Famous Blue Raincoat has always haunted me. I can only imagine the profound guilt and sadness this realization would mean.

Not too long ago I purchased the complete studio album box set on Amazon when they had it for $25. LC's first eleven albums for $25, that may be the single best bargain ever. Unfortunately that set is no longer available.

I rather like his "Live at. . . " CDs. Especially "Live in London." It allows me to remember his concerts that I attended.

I just stumbled on this May 1967 TV interview with Joni Mitchell. The song she plays starting at 16:15 sure reminds of Suzanne in basic structure, not words. What do you think?
