Hi all, looking forward to chatting with everyone. I'm in the process of building my dream system so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. Right now I'm running an Adcom GFP-565 preamp into a McIntosh MC275 MKIV amp into Klipsch Heresy's/Polk TSi400s (depending on the day.) Main source is a VPI Traveler with Dynavector 10x5 and an old MCS6700 stacker for my 45s. Right now the speakers are my weakest link. So I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions. :)

Cheers, Chris

Actually, I'd say the Adcom preamp is the weakest link - aren't you glad you joined!

But seriously - welcome aboard - nice to have you here!

Just busting your chops a bit.  You have a fine rig - seriously.  I'd swap the Adcom for a similar vintage Conrad Johnson, particularly w/ the Klipsch, but I'm fond of the more "lush" sound.  Thats all part of enjoying the journey though.

Yeah, I'd want to soften up the hard/forward/lean/hyper direct sound of the Heresy speakers (unless you only listen to hard rock genres).

I actually sold them last night to a guy setting up a vintage system for his niece that's into classic rock. It's perfect for her. I just couldn't get into them. Next speaker is going to be Salk SongTowers. Hopefully sooner than later.

Hi, hogzilla. Welcome to AC. This is a really great place to learn and chat IMHO.

My system keeps getting better, but my wallet keeps getting lighter. What's up with that?

"Try duck tape around your wallet."

In Corvallis, Oregon, one is expected to use Beaver Tape. Our son, who is a senior at U of O agrees with you that we should use Duck tape as well.

Even with this outflow of money, I find my level of enjoyment keeps increasing with each new addition. I'm a happy addict.

There's no reason to turn a happy addict into a sad addict, as long as you can replenish the "duck bills" in your wallet.  I almost went to the U of O for a PH.D in history a long time ago.   :thumb:

Welcome Hogzilla. Let's get that dream system put together for you!

Thanks! It's starting to come together. Now, just need to patiently wait for the money to catch up with the ideas. ;)

This board has been a big help in such a short time. Lots of great info and contributors.
