BDA-1 and Spotify
« on: 24 May 2015, 06:10 pm »
I have a Bryston BDA-1 connected to my Bryston stereo system and a subscription to Spotify.

1) Can I plug a laptop into the USB port of the DAC and listen to Spotify though the stereo?

2) Can I plug a smartphone into the USB port and listen to Spotify through the stereo?

How good/bad is the sound, given that this is Bryston's first-generation DAC?

Thanks for your replies.

If you have, why don't you try it?

The USB is limited to 16/48 which should be fine.  I enjoyed listening to internet radio from the Squeezebox Touch and BDA-1 when I had them.

Hi!

The answers to your questions:

1. Yes
2. No

The USB is an older protocol but measured performance by Stereophile suggests it is very capable so the audio quality should be acceptable.

Cheers!
