According to reports, Greg Lake succumbed to cancer.

Emerson, now Lake. Tough year for ELP and the numerous other musicians who passed this year. I saw them live back in the 1970's. Their stage was in the middle of the auditorium with huge stacks of speakers at all four corners. RIP

Greg Lake made a huge impact on me growing up in England, King Crimson and introduced me to Mussorgsky.
Here are a couple of videos of a radio interview in which he plays a couple of songs live, my favorite youtube clips, even at 65 he still had a great voice:

So much of his writing was ear catching.  Using European folk and classical for inspiration, he and ELP were a welcome departure from more blues/gospel inspired rock from US bands.

Very sad. Only nine months after Keith Emerson. And earlier on that sad March day I learned of the passing of an old friend. I am a keyboardist and fan having seen the band several times.. All the above is swirling around me today.
