Title: Subwoofer on carpet - footer recommendation?
Post by: kenreau on 5 May 2017, 08:17 pm
I've read the numerous recommendations to use the glider pucks rather than spikes under conventional speakers.  I wish to ask if the same glider footer recommendations would apply with a substantial subwoofer.  I recently purchased a SVS SB16-Ultra subwoofer, it is a sealed box design, roughly 20" x 20" and weighs 122 pounds.  The driver is 16" diameter.  There are 4 spikes, one at each corner, but the stock SVS spikes are only about 1/2" tall and do not elevate the subwoofer box above the carpet level (it ends up sitting on the carpet)

The sub is installed/placed on a low profile carpet, over pad, on a basement concrete floor.  My concern is with big bass hits, home theater LFE explosions, etc. the 16" driver could cause the subwoofer to slide on the carpet (if on threaded stud gliders) rather than anchoring it in place.  What would you recommend?

Thx
