So this just caught my attention... Parts Express took the Dayton B652 bookshelf speakers, doubled the woofers and put it all in tower cabinets for $118 a pair shipped.

Thats a great price.  I bet if you tweak the cabinet a little that they would sound pretty good.  A tweeter upgrade would be in order too.

Perhaps they'll add a version with the AMT tweeter like they are offering on the original B652

Mildly interesting for me - only 30 inches tall, with weak tweeters and woofers.
For the price - it would be a small miracle to find  any bracing - also I do not
expect much in the way of cabinet damping.

Even with a ported enclosure, I do not expect much bass below 80 hz.

However, Parts Express should be able to move a lot of them - and with the
Holiday season, the sales should be real good.
