RS5 vs 5F
« on: 30 Jan 2014, 10:17 am »
Hi Louis and all Audio Circle members.
Is the RS5 driver the same as the 5F driver, if not,
what are the differences?
Since Louis is very busy,
if any Audio Circle members can answer my question,
they are welcome.
Thanks.

Hi Louis and all Audio Circle members.
I never got an answer to my question.
? ? ? ? ?
Is it a question that cannot be answered.
There is always a reason why I ask question.
The answer to my question,
might leads to the purchase of another pair of Omega drivers.

Hello Guy,

I think Louis may come on tomorrow to answer this question which, as you say, should be up on the forum in his words for all to see.
I know he currently is busier than a one armed paper hanger.

Hi Canada Rob and all Audio Circle members.
Thanks for the up-date.
What a funny and original way of saying.
One armed paper hanger.
Where did you get that expression, first time I hear it.

This is what I found online. "This is an expression from long ago when the paper hanger had to apply paste to the wall (or back of paper) and then quickly position the paper and roll it flat. Not any easy skill with two arms and really impossible with only one arm. Modern prepasted paper makes it easier but still needs two arms."

Hi Canada Rob and all Audio Circle members.
In the past I had several walls in several different houses that had wall paper (Tapisserie as we call it in Quebec) and I did it all by myself with only two hands and one hand when when I had to scratch my.... Well, you know.
Some walls were more than 12 feet high.
A few times, I had a few strips that twisted and stick together,
therefore ready for the garbage can. :duh:
But when I succeeded, the wall was much better than plain paint.

Hi all Audio Circle members.
I am still waiting for an answer to my question,
but in the mean time,
I have another question that needs an answer.
What would be the dimensions of a bass reflex enclosure
for the Omega 7F that I just bought
and that I like very much.
Last time Louis gave me the dimensions for the RS5,
now I have the 7F which is bigger,
therefore needs a larger enclosure.
Waiting, waiting, waiting...

Hi Guy13,

Thanks and it's been pretty hectic and a very bad winter too. Sorry for the late post.

The RS5 is different and the cone, surround and spider is a bit different. The magnet is a bit more powerful too. The frame and metal parts are the same though as well as the dustcap.

The 7F can go into cabs as small as 29 liters and as large as 52 liters. I do like wide baffle cabs as well.

Thanks,
Louis
